THE MULTICULTURAL ADVERTISING INTERN PROGRAM (MAIP)
2010- Present

For over 40 years, the 4A’s Multicultural Advertising Intern Program (MAIP) has annually connected over 120+ aspiring diverse entry-level advertising professionals with prestigious advertising agencies nationwide. MAIP offers multicultural students a unique paid, full-time summer internship at 4A’s participating agencies nationwide, combining real-world work experience, networking opportunities within the industry (2,700 alumni globally), and over 75+ hours of professional development and training to better position themselves in the marketplace. 

Unmatched by any other program in our industry in scale, breadth, ROI, and hours of development for interns and alumni, MAIP has offered over 70+ advertising and media agencies the opportunity to access top talent and strengthens the 4A’s efforts to enhance the workforce diversity of our industry. In the past three years, approximately 96% of eligible MAIP candidates have received a job offer within nine months of graduating from the program. 


RESPONSIBILITIES / ACHIEVEMENTS:

RESULTS:

  • Evolved MAIP from a 10-week internship to a 22-week talent development fellowship, comprised of 12 weeks of virtual training and a 10 week agency experience;
  • Scaled program by 30% in 2015, increasing the number of applicants selected (170+ selected; 146 converted to fellows) through increased agency engagement and participation (75+ agencies); 
  • Developed a customized training program for #MAIP2015, curating the right partners and agency professionals to lead impactful and educational sessions;
  • Program and produce 30+ intimate to large scale events and seminars annually;
  • Oversee MAIP's online presence, inclusive of creating, modifying and evaluating the user-experience + content on the program's website (maip.aaaa.org) and the 4A's website;
  • Led and managed the launch of an interactive, private platform to connect our MAIP Alumni Community in late 2014, identifying where alumni are located, while sharing mentorship opportunities – organic and inorganic; job opportunities; and more. It also allows agency partners to connect with a curated group of leading diverse talent – cross industry. 

  • 300+ young professionals exposed to the advertising and media industry annually through the MAIP application process, with 120+ receiving in agency experience; 
  • 96% of eligible MAIP candidates have received a job offer within nine months of completing the program - converting interns to full-time entry level employees;
  • 80+ agencies and client partners are able to connect with the MAIP community for recruiting/development purposes;
  • Expansion of MAIP from 10-week internship to a 22-week diverse, talent development program;
